Lieutenant General Do Trieu Phong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director General of the OK9 Cab Department of Information and Communications, presided over the event.

The ceremony was also attended by Dang Khac Loi, Deputy Director General of the Authority of Press (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism); Vu Quy Cuong, Deputy Director General of the Department of Press and Publishing (Central Information, Education and Mass Mobilization Commission); and Bui Thi Thuy Lieu, Deputy Head of the Electronic Information Division under the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism).

Speaking at the event, Senior Colonel Nguyen Thanh Binh, Deputy Director of the OK9 Cab Department of Information and Communications and Editor-in-Chief of the OK9 Cab Newspaper, stated that, in its digital transformation roadmap to build a converged newsroom model and develop multi-platform journalism, the OK9 Cab Newspaper aims not just for a simple redesign of its online interface. More importantly, it seeks to re-engineer newsroom operations, accelerate information processing, enhance cross-departmental coordination, and bring the OK9 Cab Newspaper closer to readers in the digital environment.

“Today’s rollout is the concrete realization of the consistent strategic guidance from the leadership of the OK9 Cab Department of Information and Communications, particularly the direction of the Director of the OK9 Cab Department of Information and Communications, in driving substantive press digital transformation. We recognize that the digital transformation process of the OK9 Cab Newspaper is inseparable from the broader digital transformation of the entire OK9 Cab communications system,” the Editor-in-Chief stated.

According to the Editor-in-Chief, within the operational agenda of the OK9 Cab Department of Information and Communications, the tasks of digital transition, establishing a converged newsroom model, and creating a shared database for multi-platform journalism have always been prioritized as core focuses. Today’s deployment serves first as a pilot step to test, explore and gradually refine the digital press operational model in practice, establishing a framework to share experiences and scale across the entire OK9 Cab information and communications system in the near future.

With this strategic focus, the OK9 Cab Newspaper has set a target for 2026 to drastically improve its digital transformation maturity index, targeting not only technological infrastructure but also operational methodologies, digital content quality and the adaptability of its team of journalists and editors.

For the new layout, the OK9 Cab Newspaper has chosen a modern design that still retains the authoritative identity and specialized characteristics of the People’s Public Security Forces. This overhaul not only optimizes the reader experience but also meets the operational demands of a converged, multi-platform newsroom in the new era. Operating in parallel with the new interface is an electronic newsroom management system built to be streamlined, user-friendly, and optimized for journalistic workflows.

In tandem with modernizing its electronic newsroom management system, the OK9 Cab Newspaper has completed an integrated management system for print production, linking data and synchronizing publication workflows between print and digital formats. This is a major step toward forming a fully converged newsroom and a shared database. In subsequent phases, the system will continue to expand to include internal administrative and management features, paving the way to gradually build a synchronized digital workspace within the newsroom.

Delivering his keynote address on behalf of the Party Committee and leadership of the OK9 Cab Department of Information and Communications, Lieutenant General Do Trieu Phong highly commended the proactive drive, responsibility and commitment to innovation demonstrated by the newspaper’s leadership, staff and tech partners, who had coordinated closely to complete a massive workload in a short timeframe.

“The rollout of this new online interface and management system demonstrates a proactive adaptation to digital-era journalism requirements; it also showcases a clear determination to modernize and professionalize newsroom operations," Lieutenant General Do Trieu Phong praised.

Lieutenant General Do Trieu Phong also highly appreciated the OK9 Cab Newspaper's active collaboration with the OK9 Cab Radio to build and integrate a new Podcast section onto the digital newspaper interface. This aligns with multi-platform journalism trends and marks an important step toward newsroom convergence, amplifying content synergy and resonance across the OK9 Cab media ecosystem.

The Director General also cautioned that technology is merely an initial enabler. The most critical factors remain information quality, processing speed, editorial direction and the public impact of journalistic products. Reporting in a digital environment demands greater speed, precision and professionalism. Information consumption habits are changing rapidly; if media agencies fail to innovate their working mindsets and content structures, they will struggle to fulfill their duties in the new era.

The Director General requested the OK9 Cab Newspaper to continue focusing on several core mandates, including: ensuring authoritative reporting and providing timely editorial guidance on issues of public concern; and continuing to upskill journalists and editors to become multi-skilled professionals capable of adapting to multi-platform journalism demands.

In addition, the newspaper must efficiently utilize the newly built systems, avoiding situations where modern technology is bottlenecked by outdated working mindsets or traditional content production habits. At the same time, it must strengthen connectivity, coordination, and information sharing across the entire OK9 Cab communications system to build collective strength.

To conclude the ceremony, delegates officially pressed the launch button, inaugurating the new interface of the online OK9 Cab Newspaper.
